WARRANTY: I am formally educated in Range and Wildlife Ecology with an emphasis in botany - including plant pathology and invasive species. I have over 20 years experience in agriculture. I have a lab (including microscope) where I test seeds (cut test, etc) to assure the seeds have filled out with embryos and otherwise check the stands for pathogens including insect and fungus. I otherwise clean our seeds to standard tolerances (unless otherwise indicated for a particular seed). I make every effort to provide you with the highest quality seed available. However, due to the nature of non-domesticated plants and the diversity of knowledge and experience of growers, I do not guarantee your success in growing our seed. No warranty is expressed or implied. Liabilitly is limited to the original purchase price of the seed. Claims or damages must be made within 14 days of the shipping date.
BILLING: Established clients are invoiced Net 30 days. New clients please pay before shipping. Payment is by Check or Money Order.
ORDERING: There are two ways to order. For small orders of one to several species, the quickest way is to just send me a quick email message with name and quantities indicated. The second way to order is to click on the link in my menu entitled 'Auto Seed Inquiry'. Each plant in the list is given with a data field where you can specify a quantity of seed (drop down list) - so you do not have to type all those long scientific names. Don't forget your contact information at the bottom of the page. Note that this list includes ALL species including those out of stock and those I did not harvest in the current year. So if you order using this interactive listing, not all the seed may be available at the time of your request. Use the other links in the menu to review the seeds that are available in the current year (those in the blue and green bar tables). Regardless of how you order, I will confirm your request by sending a return email.
In the near future, I will be programming a custom ordering system with multiple wish lists you can keep online (by project, by growing area, etc). This so that you can just select from the 'currently in stock' listing without all the typing. I should have this ordering system programmed by this winter. I am a bit behind schedule so please bear with me. Thank you.
ETHICS:
All seeds were collected in the CURRENT growing season. I collect all seeds myself and do not broker. I only sell what I collect myself - a formally educated botanist - so that you are assured of receiving the species you request. Seeds older than a year are indicated so and generally offered at discount.
I generally track several stands of each species I harvest. Harvesting occurs under either a 10 or 20 percent rule. For common species, I may take more than 20 percent depending on the health and condition of the stand and whether the stand has been rest rotated. "Rest Rotation" is a practice common to range management where communities are given a time of rest from grazing or harvesting to allow the community to recover from any livestock or human activities. I exercise rest rotation amoung my many alternative stands for a species. This allows seed soil reserves to remain stable over the long term. I also run range condition transects from time to time if I suspect there is a trend of change in a particular community. I am absolutely dependent on the long term viability of the wild stands from which I harvest - I bring real science and ethics to the work I do to assure they remain healthy today and in the future.
